Arrest History in Mobile County

The form cites Alabama Code §36-12-40 and requires Alabama residency. It asks for the requester's name, mailing address, telephone or email, a clear record description, resident certification, signature, and date. Broad terms such as “related to” or “pertaining to” can delay review. A sound request gives the subject, date range, people involved, case number, location, city or county, and why MCSO should hold the record. The fee starts with $5 retrieval. The first 25 pages cost $1 each; later pages cost $0.50 each. Digital jail calls, video, or photos supplied on DVD cost $10. Payment may be a business check, money order, or cash in person. Personal checks are not accepted, and cash must never be mailed.

What an Arrest Record Shows
The public Mobile County jail roster showed only four columns during research: name, date, charges, and bonds. Juvenile arrest information and protected victim or investigatory material are not ordinary public log content. A full arrest report can hold facts that the roster does not, but lawful redactions may still apply.
Mobile County Arrests Reach ALEA
Mobile County booking fingerprints connect an arrest cycle to Alabama's identity-centered criminal history system. The jail captures the prints and arrest data. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's CJIS Criminal Records Identification Unit maintains statewide fingerprint files. That connection can lag or fail when a fingerprint link, identifier, or agency submission is missing or unmatched. The court docket is case-centered. The ALEA record is identity- and fingerprint-centered. The jail list is custody-centered. A “no result” in one source does not clear the others.
A person reviewing their own Alabama record uses the ALEA personal criminal-history review process and CJIS Form 46 with valid identification, classifiable fingerprints from an authorized law-enforcement agency using an FBI ORI, and the required fee. ALEA does not offer an unrestricted public name search for this purpose. If an entry appears wrong, the same form provides a challenge route supported by official agency or court proof.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
Mobile County has two distinct official public channels for recent custody. The 24-Hour Booking wrapper is aimed at recent intake. Who's in Jail is a long, alphabetical current-inmate list with no visible search input. The current list is free to browse and showed only name, date, charges, and bonds. Mobile County Sheriff Arrest Tools
The free Mobile County Sheriff's Office app, published by OCV, advertises Who's in Jail, outstanding-warrant checks, My Neighborhood incident viewing, and crime, photo, or video reporting. Research did not establish that any of those functions is app-only. The web roster, booking wrapper, and warrant channel remain available, so the app is an extra official route rather than the sole access point.
Android users can find the official app through Google Play, while iPhone users can use the Apple App Store listing. An app alert or incident item should still be checked against the jail, arresting agency, or court record that answers the exact question.
Arrests vs Convictions
A Mobile County arrest record and a conviction record have different creators and meanings. Police or sheriff staff document the arrest. Metro Jail records booking and custody.
